Box for Expression aims to create an installation that support the collection of narratives in the urban landscape. It is a modular and movable small scale infrastructure that functions as a public repository of thoughts and stories. It is distributed to creative groups in Athens that operate on the field of oral history and social research. It is a box covered with mirrors to reflect the surrounding environment and the people that approach it, as a message for the self-reflection they are called to make. The installation has big openings in order to be safe to be used during the pandemic. It can be re-assembled in order to be moved and installed in different parts of the city. It contains recording equipment and pens and papers to create small notes.

The Actors of Urban Change program, under which the "Box for Expression" project was initiated, promotes a culture of collectivity and co-creation in the urban landscape and supports projects that seek to approach social change (you can learn more about it here https: //www.actorsofurbanchange.org/). About a year agoten projects from different parts of Europe, including ours, were chosen to get financed. One of the main prerequisites of the program is the cooperation of three bodies - a public, a private and a Non-Profit Organization - seeking to form a dynamic and pluralistic alliance. In our case, this cooperation consists of the Image, Sound and Cultural Representation Lab (ISCRL), Department of Cultural Technology and Communication (University of the Aegean), the Ludd Lab and the Open Lab Athens. The program started in February 2020 and is expected to be completed during the summer of 2021.
